Intermediate Geotechnical engineer (vancouver)
Edge GeoEngineering Ltd. (GeoEdge) is seeking a skilled Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an integral member of our team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and execution of various geotechnical projects. Your expertise will be pivotal in assessing subsurface conditions, analyzing data, providing recommendations to ensure the stability and safety of construction projects and preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals.
This is a flexible, remote position, working in and around the Vancouver area.
Responsibilities:
Site Investigation and Data Collection:
Coordinate and conduct field investigations to assess soil, rock, and groundwater conditions including drilling, sampling, and testing.
Compile and analyze geotechnical data obtained from site investigations to determine soil properties and stratigraphy including preparation of soil logs.
Geotechnical Analysis:
Perform geotechnical analyses and calculations, including slope stability, settlement analysis, bearing capacity, and earth pressure calculations.
Utilize geotechnical software and tools to model and simulate various ground conditions and construction scenarios.
Report Preparation and Documentation:
Prepare clear, concise, and technically sound geotechnical reports summarizing findings, analyses, and recommendations.
Present findings and recommendations to project teams and clients in a professional manner.
Design Support:
Collaborate with design engineers to integrate geotechnical considerations into project designs.
Provide recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement techniques, and slope stabilization measures.
Project Management and Compliance:
Assist in project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to geotechnical engineering.
Continuous Learning and Development:
Stay updated with advancements in geotechnical engineering practices, techniques, and technologies.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
Professional Engineer license in British Columbia or working towards licensure.
3-5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in consulting or construction environments.
Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Rocscience suite, CLiq, LPile and MSEw).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects effectively.
